2015/16 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

The 2015/16 Scholarship Award was presented to Linda Dean in July 2015 ready for her to undertake a Level 3 in hairdressing.

Last year Linda passed Hairdressing level 2. She wanted to carry on with Level 3 but the course was too expensive and there were funding cuts for deaf people in education. She is a single mother and couldn't afford to fund herself. She was awarded a grant through our Scholarship programme. Without the scholarship she wouldn't have been able to complete the course.

"Total Communication's Scholarship scheme / grant has helped me lots and I hope to achieve my level 3 qualification. It will also be a great help to deaf people who can't communicate with a hearing hairdresser. I hope to work with the deaf community as a mobile hairdresser." - Linda

2017/18 SCHOLARSHIP AWARD

In September 2018, Matthew Bryant started his scholarship in Level 3 Carpentry at the Oxford College of Technology.

Throughout the year there were several major projects all more intricate than the last. Including a highly detailed window frame and also an angled staircase. Matthew completed his projects with a great deal of care, attention and skill. He worked incredibly hard all year which showed in the final pieces of work.

“I would like to say a massive thank you to Total Communication for their support during my  Level 3 Carpentry course at Oxford college. Without TC I would not have got to where I am. They provide brilliant support and benefit the Deaf community. An awesome service that I would be happy to use in the future. Once again Thank you TC.” - Matthew
