Our Deaf Awareness course is aimed at employees who deal with the general public either face to face, or on the telephone. It is also ideal for staff of companies who currently employ Deaf people. This course explores the difference between Deaf, hard of hearing and hearing people, giving an in-depth understanding of the differences between the 3 groups, in language, lifestyle and culture.
This course has many hands-on exercises and delegates will learn, among many other effective communication techniques, the British Sign Language finger spelling alphabet, lip-reading and some basic signs.
Delegates will leave this course feeling confident, and very often eager, to communicate with the general public who have a hearing loss. There are 10 million hard of hearing and Deaf people out there in the UK, which affects 1 in 6 people. By attending this course it will improve effective communication from 25% to 95% which is a phenomenal achievement.
